Canada is so much more than the stories making the headlines.

It’s the music playing during a long drive home. It’s the people we meet, the communities we build, the places we love and the conversations that keep us company. It’s a country with countless voices, each carrying a story worth hearing. The Canadianist Radio was created to bring those voices together and celebrate the Canada we know, while discovering more of the country along the way.

Canada is big, diverse, complicated and always changing. It sounds different in Toronto than it does in Halifax, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver or a small town in Northern Ontario. Every part of the country has its own rhythm, character and way of seeing the world. Our goal is to reflect as much of that as possible through music, culture, entertainment, conversation and stories from communities across Canada.

The Canadianist Radio is the companion to The Canadianist News, with each serving a different purpose.

The Canadianist News covers the country through national reporting, politics, business, public affairs, analysis and expanding regional coverage. The Canadianist Radio sounds like the country. It brings together music, personalities, interviews, lifestyle programming, live broadcasts, original shows and podcasts designed to become part of your day.

News and politics will have a place here. You’ll hear Canadianist programs examining the issues shaping our country, interviews with interesting people and conversations that move beyond the usual talking points. But Canada doesn’t begin and end in Ottawa, and neither will we.

You’ll hear Canadian music alongside familiar favourites from beyond our borders. You’ll hear programs about communities, health, business, food, entertainment and everyday Canadian life. There will be live shows, special broadcasts, original podcasts and new voices from different parts of the country. Some programs will make you think. Others will keep you company in the car, at work or while you’re making dinner. Sometimes, we’ll simply play some great music.

Most of all, we want this to feel like a place for Canadians. A place where we can hear ourselves reflected, learn something about one another and remember how much more we share than the headlines sometimes suggest.

This is only the beginning. Our schedule will continue to grow as we introduce new programs, contributors and regional voices. Along the way, we hope The Canadianist Radio becomes something familiar and welcoming: a station that keeps you connected to the people, places and sounds of the country we call home.
