Canadianism Podcast | S2 E7 | Quebec Is About to Show Canada What’s Wrong With Our Voting System
There are times for headlines, interviews and debate. And there are times to turn down the noise, settle in and spend an hour with a good book.
The Canadianist Radio Network is introducing The Book Hour, a weekly radio series devoted to books, ideas and long-form storytelling.
Each edition will feature a book presented aloud, giving listeners a chance to experience writing in a way that has largely disappeared from modern radio. No scrolling. No clips. No rush. Just an hour set aside for a story, an argument or an idea worth spending some time with.
The series begins with Canadianism: A Calm Alternative for a Fractured Country, written and narrated by Christopher M. Michaud.
Canadianism begins with a question that has become increasingly important in a changing Canada: in a country made up of people from different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and experiences, what still holds us together?
The book explores the idea of a shared Canadian identity built around belonging, responsibility, common values and commitment to the country we share. It looks beyond partisan politics and asks whether Canadians can rediscover a common civic culture without asking anyone to abandon who they are.
Canadianism will be presented in instalments on The Book Hour, allowing listeners to hear the complete book over the course of the series.
Future editions of The Book Hour will expand beyond Canadianism, featuring works exploring Canada, history, biography, fiction and other ideas and stories worth hearing.
Make yourself comfortable. Pour something warm. Put the phone down for an hour.
The Book Hour is on The Canadianist Radio Network.
